The
Marcliffe at Pitfodels is set in 11 acres of wooded grounds on the
A93, and only 3 miles from the city centre. The mansion house was
originally build in 1858 and after over 100 years as a family home
to several of Aberdeen's leading businessmen, was reconstructed and
extended in the early 1990s and officially opened by Mikhail Gorbachev
in December 1993.

Stewart Spence, the owner, oversees all aspects of the hotel, including the kitchens
headed by Executive Chef Michael Stoddart, and Head Chef Gilbert Brock, both
having worked for the Spence family in various establishments for over 18 years.
In addition to the Conservatory Restaurant, there is Private
Dining in the Garden Room (24), the Invery Room (50), the Courtyard Suite (180)
and the Grand Ballroom (450).

Only the best of local produce is used for all our catering, and is one
of the reasons why The Marcliffe is the highest rated hotel in North
East Scotland.
